Bay Island Fish Company has imported and distributed premium quality Red Snapper, Yellowtail Snapper and a variety of Groupers since 1988. Bay Island Fish is the sister company of Flying Fish (El Pez Volador S.A.), and its exclusive distributor. Flying Fish is the longest established fishing company located in the Bay Islands of Honduras in Central America.

Flying Fish operates its own fleet of boats from the island of Roatan, the largest of the Bay Islands and a popular tourist destination. Our boats fish the clean, pristine waters 300 miles east of Roatan in the middle of the Caribbean where the Gulf Stream begins. Because we fish a difficult environment with limited entry, our boats continue to produce sustainable catches of large snapper in an area that has been continuously fished for over 30 years.

Flying Fish also purchases directly from many local fishermen on the neighboring islands of Utila, the Utila Cays, and Guanaja. The combination of operating our own fleet and purchasing assures our customers a year-round supply of high quality, fresh fish.

The fish are graded and inspected at our facility in Roatan and then exported to the US for distribution to our customers. The companies use a combination of air freight and ocean freight to assure freshest delivery to our customers. Roatan is less than two hours by air from the US and Honduras has over ten ships per week to the US. Our products arrive in the US with great shelf life because of these dependable logistics links.

Both Bay Island Fish and Flying Fish work very closely together to assure quality from the moment a fish is caught until it is delivered to our customers. With us, you can be sure your fish has been handled properly throughout the entire supply chain. Both companies are fully HAACP certified.

We will actively consider opportunities to:
  • Market fish from other importers in the US on an 'open books' basis
  • Establish Joint Ventures in Honduras
  • Export from Honduras to Grand Cayman or Jamaica
  • Reserve the 'top catch' for special customers
  • Fillet your fish in Honduras. Why pay expensive freight on whole fish to the US and for expensive labor to fillet fish there?
